Funding of Doctoral Studies (from 1 September 2025)

Based on the amendment to the Higher Education Act effective from 1 September 2025, students enrolled in full-time doctoral study programmes after the amendment came into effect are guaranteed an income of at least 1.2 times the minimum wage.

For the 2026/27 academic year, the guaranteed doctoral study income is set at a regular monthly amount of CZK 26,680. The doctoral scholarship is adjusted every September at the beginning of the academic year in line with the annual increase in the minimum wage.

A doctoral scholarship may be awarded under the conditions stipulated by the currently applicable VŠE Scholarship Regulations and, where applicable, by a measure issued by the dean of the respective faculty. The scholarship may be reduced or withdrawn entirely if the student fails to fulfil the requirements of their Individual Study Plan (ISP).

Grants and Projects

Are you looking for a suitable grant or planning a new research project? The Research Office (OVV) provides support to academic staff, researchers and doctoral students with the preparation, submission and administration of national and international projects.

The Research Office (OVV) is a university-wide department of VŠE operating under the Vice-Rector for Research and Doctoral Studies. The team can advise you on selecting a suitable source of funding, meeting formal and administrative requirements, preparing a project budget and submitting a project proposal. The Research Office also supports internal grant schemes, organises information and training events, and helps develop international research collaboration.

The Database of Research Funding Calls can help you find a suitable funding programme. It provides an overview of national and international funding opportunities according to the focus of your project and the applicant’s level of experience.
