When you find a topic you are interested in, contact a supervisor listed next to the topic and find out if it is available. You should let the supervisor know what you want to research and how. You can even send the first draft of your research proposal to receive feedback.
Contacting a supervisor before applying is very strongly recommended, if not mandatory.
