The applicants applying for the government scholarship will have an extraordinary application period in February 2026 and the entrance exam is going to take place in March 2026.

Entrance examination date

Every applicant is required to sit the entrance examination.

The entrance examination date for all faculties: 16 June 2026

In extraordinary cases, it is possible to request and attend the entrance examination on an alternative date that will take place on 10 September 2026.
The alternative date is also meant for students who graduate after the deadline for applications (in the case of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting it is for students who graduate later than June 2026).
The alternative date of the examination is not meant as a make-up examination.

At the Faculty of Business Administration, there is no alternative entrance exams date. Applicants who are going to complete their Master’s studies after the deadline for applying must inform the study coordinator for PhD studies about the situation.

Applicants applying during the additional admission period of the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics in July and August will take the entrance exam at the date of the alternative date of entrance examination in September.

Faculties with additional application periods have their own entrance exam date – please check the faculty website.

The applicants applying for the government scholarship will have an extraordinary application period in February of the given year and the entrance exam is going to take place in March of the given year.

In justified cases, it is possible to request sitting the entrance exam via video call; in this case it is necessary to apply to the Dean of the faculty through the study coordinator for PhD studies in advance.

Entrance Examination

Before taking the entrance examination, every applicant needs to identify themselves by a passport or some other kind of ID.

Then entrance examination consists of

  • interview about the dissertation proposal (may include the major specialization subjects’s examination)
  • English language examination (only the Faculty of International Relations has a separate examination; other faculties evaluate the level of English during the entrance interview)

Each faculty has its own requirements for the entrance examination.

Faculty of Finance and Accounting

The faculty does not require applicants to take a foreign language exam. However, the discourse is conducted in English.
The Czech language proficiency of foreign applicants for the study programmes held in Czech will be examined during the major specialization subjects’ examination.

Faculty of International Relations
All applicants must pass the English entrance exam. Foreigners intending to study in the Czech programme must pass the English exam and written and oral Czech entrance exam.
Exemptions in the choice of language examination in the entrance procedure are authorised by the dean of the faculty who can give permission on the grounds of a written request.

Faculty of Business Administration
Applicants do not take the English entrance exam; the interview about the dissertation proposal (oral exam) is however led in the English language. Foreigners (does not apply for Slovak applicants) intending to study in the Czech language programme must pass the interview that is led both in English and Czech. Such applicants must be fluent in Czech.

Faculty of Informatics and Statistics
The entrance interview about the major specialization is led in English. For foreigners going to study in the Czech language programme the entrance interview about the major specialization is led both in English and in Czech.

Faculty of Economics
Applicants do not take the English entrance exam; the interview about the dissertation proposal is led in the English language. CEFR English proficiency level C1 is expected. Foreigners (does not apply for Slovak applicants) intending to study in the Czech language programme must pass the interview that is led both in English and Czech. Such applicants must be fluent in Czech.

Faculty of Management – Applicants do not take the English entrance exam; the entrance interview is led in English.
International candidates (does not apply for Slovakia) applying for the Czech study program must demonstrate active knowledge of the Czech language during the interview. The admission interview can be organized online.
