Immigration Requirements

*EU nationals do not need any permit to live and study in the Czech Republic

Students from Outside of EU

Students who were admitted to the doctoral program (full-time) need to apply for a Long-term residence permit for the purpose of studies (HERE) in order to live and study in the Czech Republic.

Recommendation: In order for the immigration process to start without any delays, it is crucial that the diploma recognition is finalized by the deadline for applications.

Furthermore, we recommend to check the web page of the respective Czech Embassy in your home country for up to date information on documents which are required. This will give you time to prepare in advance, because some required documents take time to obtain, especially the Extract from the Penal Register. This might delay the application process.

Note: VSE provides to admitted applicants: Proof of accommodation and Proof of the purpose of residence (Acceptance Letter).

Student Facilitation Program: Students from selected countries may be nominated into the Student Facilitation Program, and thus obtain a preferential appointment at a Czech Embassy. See HERE for detailed information.

Process once in the Czech Republic

Note: Make sure to obtain information from the Embassy regarding the steps to be taken upon arrival to the Czech Republic!

Several steps must be taken upon arrival. Most probably as a student, this will be the office to refer to; an appointment can be requested online here or by phone (on this phone line, you can also ask for information about your stay):

Bank Account

You will need a bank account in a Czech bank. Almost all banks offer a basic account for free. You can try for example the UniCredit Bank that is close to VŠE at nám. Míru 1. They provide service in English.
What is usually needed: 2 documents with a picture (eg. passport and driving license), Confirmation of study (Acceptance letter), address in the Czech Republic, mobile phone number (usually a foreign number is also accepted).

Library

Library is in the Old Building of VŠE.
Registration is needed (done at the library once you have your student ID card)
